How much does a wedding in Mallorca cost?

Start with the range

We hold seven wedding venues on Mallorca. Six of them publish a starting price, and those six run from €3,500 to €15,000. The seventh, Cap Rocat, quotes on enquiry.

That range is real, but it is not a quality scale, and reading it as one is the most common mistake couples make on this island. Two venues in our collection open at exactly €15,000 and sell almost opposite things. The gap between the bottom and the top is mostly a gap in how much of the wedding the venue has agreed to take on.

What the hire fee is actually buying

The lowest figure buys a place, a day and a bed for two. Finca Son Vila starts at €3,500 for exclusive use of the whole finca for one day. You get four areas to move guests between, a large outdoor reception terrace, the terrace beside the pool with the mountains behind it, the grass lawns and an indoor room, plus a suite for the couple overnight with a late checkout the next morning. It seats up to 300. Nothing you eat or drink is in the price.

Some hire fees quietly carry the running costs. Finca Binissati starts at €4,500 for up to 200 guests and a private event of up to nine hours, and folds a good deal into it: a wedding planner service, the cleaning, the SGAE music rights fee, parking for 150 cars, one night for two, and the house from four hours before the ceremony for dressing and photographs. The estate has belonged to the same family since 1510, and the day is built from named spaces, four to choose from for the ceremony, two more for the aperitif and the banquet, and two for the party.

Read the words next to the number. Finca Morneta also starts at €4,500, but states it as a figure plus VAT, covering exclusive hire of the estate and the Morneta Suite with its own courtyard for the wedding night. Two identical headline figures, two different totals at the bottom of the invoice.

Infrastructure is a cost even when it is invisible. Finca Son Sampol starts at €4,800 and hosts one event a day, so the estate is yours alone for up to ten hours. That fee includes estate staff throughout, security through the closing hours, permanent ambient lighting across the grounds, a supplier area with its own facilities, a 250 square metre Bedouin tent, parking for 100 vehicles, contracted power of 19KW and a 60KW backup generator. On a site with no mains-grade supply you would be hiring most of that in, and it rarely appears on anyone's first budget.

Catering: the line that scales with the guest list

Hire is a fixed cost. Catering is not, and it is the reason a small change to the guest list moves the total more than almost any decision you make about the venue.

Two of our seven Mallorca venues publish a per-head figure. Finca Morneta quotes catering from €120 per person and drinks from €60 per person, booked through its list of recommended caterers. Finca Son Sampol quotes catering from €150 per person. Morneta is the only venue on the island in our collection that publishes all three lines at once, hire, food and drink, which makes it the one you can model properly before you have spoken to anybody.

Two venues cater in house instead: Finca Binissati and Hospes Maricel & Spa. Five work from a recommended caterer list, which is more work and more control. Whichever route you take, the question to ask a hire-only finca early is not what the venue costs but what a full plated dinner and an evening of drinks costs on top of it, because that is the half of the budget the day rate is silent about.

The all-in figure, and what it replaces

Hospes Maricel & Spa starts at €15,000 for 60 wedding guests with catering and drinks included. Set against a hire-only finca that is a large number, and against the same wedding priced line by line it often is not, because it has already absorbed the catering, the bar, the service and the venue in a single contract. The hotel takes full exclusivity, uses the historic Palace Building and the contemporary Natura Building, seats up to 170 for both the ceremony and the reception across its indoor rooms and the sea-facing terrace, and has several direct accesses down to the beach.

The catch with any package priced around a head count is what happens above it. This one is written for 60 guests. If your list is longer than that, the first conversation to have is about how the figure grows per extra guest, not about the headline itself.

Where everybody sleeps

Five of the seven Mallorca venues we hold publish an on-site sleeping figure, and the spread is wide enough to change what kind of wedding you are planning. Hospes Maricel & Spa sleeps up to 102 against a maximum of 170 wedding guests, which is the only property in our Mallorca collection where most of the party can stay where the wedding is. Son Doblons sleeps 18, Finca Son Sampol 16, Finca Binissati 8 and Finca Morneta 2. Finca Son Vila keeps a suite for the couple rather than quoting a house figure.

The smaller numbers are not a shortcoming, they are a different structure. Beds for 8 or 16 hold the immediate family close for the weekend while the rest of the party books into hotels nearby, and every one of these venues keeps a recommended hotel list for exactly that. What it does mean is a transport line in your budget, and a decision about how late the last minibus leaves.

Minimum stay, the term that quietly doubles a budget

Two of the seven set one. Finca Son Vila asks for a minimum of one night. Son Doblons asks for five, with accommodation for 18 included in the hire, on a restored villa set in 130 hectares of countryside with seven gardens linked by pathways, a large pool, a helipad, and an olive esplanade where the open bar and disco run once dinner is over.

This is why the two €15,000 venues cannot be compared directly. One is a wedding day for 60 people with the food and drink inside it. The other is five nights of a private estate for 18, with room for up to 220 at the celebration and the catering still to buy. Both are honest prices for what they contain.

Capacity has a floor as well as a ceiling

The maximum is the number venues advertise. The minimum is the one that catches small weddings out. Finca Son Vila takes up to 300 and will host as few as 2. Son Doblons runs to 220, also from 2, and Hospes Maricel & Spa to 170 from 2. Finca Binissati and Finca Son Sampol both hold up to 200, opening from 10 and from 6 respectively. Finca Morneta tops out at 150 but will not take a ceremony or a reception below 20, so a party of a dozen is the wrong shape for the estate however much you like it.

Wet weather is part of capacity too, and only one venue in our Mallorca collection puts a number on it. Finca Binissati holds a standing plan B for 120 guests, extendable to cover all 200 if the sky turns. Anywhere with an outdoor ceremony and a tent, ask what the covered number is before you sign.

Exclusive use, and how late the night runs

Six of the seven list full exclusivity, so exclusive use on Mallorca is close to a default rather than an upgrade you pay for. Finca Son Sampol goes furthest by hosting only one event per day.

Curfew is the sharper divide. Three venues list none at all: Finca Binissati, Finca Morneta and Finca Son Vila. Morneta and Son Vila also list no music curfew, which is the more useful of the two promises, since a venue can be open late and still have to turn the sound down. If dancing until the small hours is the thing you would miss most, sort this before you fall for a terrace.

Distance, parking and the coaches

Mallorca is compact, and transfers are cheaper here than on the mainland, but they still multiply across a guest list and several days. Finca Morneta is 20km from Mallorca Airport and a 20-minute drive from Palma. Finca Son Sampol is 23km from Palma Airport. Son Doblons is 40km out, with a helipad on the estate for anyone arriving that way.

Parking decides whether guests drive themselves or you hire coaches. Finca Binissati parks 150 cars. Finca Son Sampol parks 100 vehicles and takes buses up to 12 metres, carrying around 55 passengers, which is the detail that makes a single coach transfer possible instead of a fleet of minibuses. Ask about coach access anywhere reached by a country lane.

The terms that arrive after the quote

Three things move a Mallorca budget after the headline is agreed. VAT, quoted inside the figure by some and outside it by others, as Finca Morneta states plainly. Mandatory services, where Finca Son Sampol requires the SGAE music rights tax, cleaning and maintenance during the event, and all lighting installation coordinated through the estate. And inclusions that save you a separate invoice, as at Finca Binissati, where the SGAE fee, the cleaning and a wedding planner service already sit inside the hire.

None of this is unusual and none of it is a trap. It is simply the difference between a quote you can compare and one you cannot.

Three ways couples buy a Mallorca wedding

Hire the estate and build the day yourself. Finca Son Vila from €3,500, Finca Binissati from €4,500, Finca Morneta from €4,500 plus VAT, Finca Son Sampol from €4,800. You are buying the site, the exclusivity and the hours. Your caterer, your suppliers, your furniture, your total. This route gives the most control over how the day looks and asks the most of whoever is coordinating it.

Buy the wedding in one contract. Hospes Maricel & Spa from €15,000 for 60 guests with catering and drinks included, on a seafront hotel with rooms for 102, an on-site planner, a spa, a pool and yacht charter for the days either side. One relationship, one invoice, and far fewer decisions.

Take a private estate for the week. Son Doblons from €15,000 across a minimum of five nights, with 130 hectares, beds for 18 and space for up to 220 at the celebration. The wedding day sits inside a longer stay, and the price reflects a property held for the best part of a week rather than a single afternoon.

The one that will not publish a figure

Cap Rocat, at Cala Blava, is a nineteenth-century fortress carved into the sandstone above the Bay of Palma, restored by Antonio Obrador. A drawbridge arrival, gardens laid out in the old moat, suites cut into the rock, stone terraces above a marine reserve, a private cove and Sea Club at Caló de la Reina, and La Fortaleza, a dining room for thirty set inside the rock itself. We hold no published price for it, and we will not invent one. If it is on your list, treat it as a direct conversation about your date rather than a line you can budget from a website.
