Spain wedding weather, month by month
Spain's wedding season runs from April to October and the same month means different things in Mallorca, Ibiza, around Barcelona and in Andalusia. This guide takes the season month by month and region by region: the heat to plan around, the showers to allow for, and the months most couples choose.

How to read the season
Two things decide Spanish wedding weather: the sea and the latitude. The Balearics and the Catalan coast are moderated by the Mediterranean and rarely suffer; inland Andalusia is the hottest corner of Europe in summer and the gentlest in spring and autumn. The rule that follows is simple. Coast and islands: May to early October, with high summer carried by an evening ceremony. Inland: April to June and September to October, with July and August for the brave or the well shaded.
April
Mallorca and Ibiza. Cool and green; 18 to 20°C by day, evenings need a wrap. Showers possible. The islands open their season.
Barcelona and Catalonia. Mild, 18 to 20°C, the countryside at its freshest. Some rain. Masías and castles inland are ideal.
Andalusia. The best month inland: 22 to 25°C, wildflowers, the estates in full leaf. Semana Santa and the Feria crowd Seville.
May
Mallorca and Ibiza. Warm, 22 to 24°C, long evenings arriving, sea still cool. One of the two best island months.
Barcelona and Catalonia. Warm and settled, 22 to 24°C; the Penedès in flower. A prime month.
Andalusia. Warm to hot, 26 to 28°C inland, lovely on the coast. Prime, with the Córdoba patios and the ferias.
June
Mallorca and Ibiza. Hot and dry, 26 to 28°C, sunset after nine, sea warm enough. The most-booked month.
Barcelona and Catalonia. Hot, 26 to 28°C, dry; long evenings. Sant Joan on the 23rd fills the coast with fireworks.
Andalusia. Hot inland, 30 to 34°C; ceremonies at seven. The coast is pleasant. Early June is better than late.
July
Mallorca and Ibiza. Hot, 30°C and more, busy, dear for flights and villas. Evening weddings only; the breeze helps on the coast.
Barcelona and Catalonia. Hot and humid near the city, 29 to 31°C; the hills behind are cooler. Evening weddings.
Andalusia. Inland 35 to 40°C: weddings at dusk or not at all. The Atlantic coast near Vejer and Tarifa stays workable with the breeze.
August
Mallorca and Ibiza. As July, at its peak; the islands are full. Late ceremonies, late parties, the sea at its warmest.
Barcelona and Catalonia. As July; the city empties for the month and the coast fills. Some venues close.
Andalusia. As July inland, the hottest fortnight of the year. Coast only, or a dusk wedding on an estate with a pool and a plan for the heat.
September
Mallorca and Ibiza. The other best month: 26 to 28°C early, cooler late, sea warm, crowds gone. Books up with June.
Barcelona and Catalonia. Warm and golden, 26°C falling to 23; grape harvest in the Penedès. Prime.
Andalusia. Still hot early, 30°C inland, easing through the month; the coast is perfect. The ferias return.
October
Mallorca and Ibiza. Mild, 22 to 24°C early, showers more likely late. Early October is a quiet, lovely window.
Barcelona and Catalonia. Mild, 20 to 23°C; some rain. Early October works outdoors, late needs an indoor plan.
Andalusia. The second-best month inland: 25°C, clear skies, the estates at ease. The coast cools in the evening.
What the venues say
Each destination page carries the season as the venues there experience it, and the airports and costs beside it: Mallorca, Ibiza, Barcelona and Andalusia. For the day itself, the timeline guide gives sunset by month so the ceremony lands in the right light, and the booking guide says which months go first.
Questions couples ask us
What is the best month for a wedding in Spain?
June and September, for warmth without the peak heat and crowds, long evenings and a warm sea on the coast; May and early October close behind. Inland Andalusia and the hills behind Barcelona are best in spring and autumn; the coast and the islands carry high summer with an evening ceremony.
Is July or August too hot for a wedding in Spain?
Inland, often: 35 to 40°C afternoons in Andalusia and the Guadalquivir valley, and the hills behind Barcelona are only a little cooler. On the coast and the islands the sea and the breeze make it workable, with the ceremony after seven and the party in the dark. Almost every venue we list has hosted August weddings; ask each how it handles the heat.
Does it rain in Spain in spring and autumn?
Occasionally. April and late October are the months most likely to see a shower on the islands and in Catalonia; Andalusia's rain comes mostly in winter. Every venue we list has an indoor plan; ask how many it seats at tables, because that is usually fewer than the garden.
When do most couples choose?
Mallorca: May, June and September are the months most couples choose in Mallorca: reliably warm, long evenings, and before or after the July and August peak when flights and hotels cost most. Ibiza: June and September are the months most couples choose in Ibiza. Barcelona: May, June, September and early October are the months most couples choose around Barcelona. Andalusia: April, May, June, September and October are the months most couples choose in Andalusia.
