Small and intimate wedding venues in Spain

A small wedding in Spain is usually a stay rather than a day: a house in the hills or by the sea that sleeps the people you love most, with dinner in the garden. 12 of the 55 venues we list are built for 100 guests or fewer. This guide lists them, then the larger estates that suit a small wedding anyway.

What "small" means in Spain

Spanish wedding venues skew large. The masías of Catalonia and the cortijos of Andalusia were built for families of forty and harvests of a hundred, and most of them state capacities of 150 to 300. A venue that takes 60 is unusual, and that changes how you search: for an intimate wedding you are choosing between a handful of purpose-built small houses, or a large estate hired for a small party.

Both work. The difference is the shape of the weekend. A small house gives you one table under one tree and everyone sleeping upstairs. A large estate gives you room to spread out, a pool nobody has to share, and often a lower price per head than you expect, because the venue hire does not scale with the guest list.

Built for 100 guests or fewer

12 venues state a capacity of 100 or under, listed smallest first. Where a price includes nights for a named number of guests, that number is usually the bed count.

Why small weddings in Spain are good value

The venue line is the one cost that does not multiply with guests, so a small wedding spends a larger share of its budget on the place and a smaller share on feeding people. At 40 guests, a €120-a-head dinner is €4,800; the same dinner for 150 is €18,000. That is why the small-wedding couples we talk to often end up at a better venue than they planned, not a cheaper one. The budget calculator shows the whole number at any guest count.

The one line to watch is the minimum stay. A house that sleeps 20 on a three-night minimum is a three-night house party whether you have 20 guests or 60. If that is what you want, it is the best thing about a small Spanish wedding. If you only want the afternoon, choose from the venues without a minimum.

Questions couples ask us

How many small wedding venues are there in Spain?

12 of the 55 venues we list state a capacity of 100 or fewer, and one takes 60 or fewer. Most Spanish estates are built for 150 and up, so a genuinely small venue is the rarer find, and the ones that exist tend to be houses with beds rather than halls.

How much does a small wedding venue in Spain cost?

Across the 12 small venues that publish a from-price, the figures run from €4,750 to €37,000. The spread is about what the price includes: 4 fold food and drink into a stay, which makes a high headline figure closer to the whole wedding than it looks.

Can we hire a large venue for a small wedding?

Often, and sometimes it is the better deal: a masía that sleeps 20 and takes 200 will host 30 guests for the same hire price, and the house is yours. The second list in this guide picks the estates where that works, by beds and price rather than by capacity.

Do small venues let guests stay?

10 of the 12 small venues state how many it sleeps. For a wedding of 30 or 40, a venue that sleeps 20 or more puts most of the guest list under one roof, which is the whole appeal of a small wedding abroad.
