Cortijo and hacienda wedding venues in Andalusia
Southern Spain sells weddings differently from the cities and the islands: almost nothing is priced as a venue for an afternoon. The 8 Andalusian estates we list are cortijos, haciendas, farms and country houses hired whole, with the beds. This guide lists them with each one's capacity, beds, minimum stay and published price, and explains what the Andalusian model does to the budget.

The Andalusian model
An Andalusian estate is a place you move into for the weekend. The cortijo's courtyard is the ceremony, the olive grove is the dinner, the pool is the Sunday, and the guest houses around the patio are where the family sleeps. 7 of the 8 estates here build the nights into the published price, and 3 add the food and drink to the same figure. That is why two Andalusian quotes with wildly different numbers can describe weddings of the same size: one is the estate, the other is the estate with three days of living in it.
The spread of published from-prices runs from €5,400 to €40,000. Before you read anything into that, read what each includes; the Andalusia cost guide takes the figures estate by estate.

Coast or country
2 of the 8 sit on or near the Atlantic coast around Vejer, Bolonia and Tarifa, where the summer stays workable and the light is the point. The other 6 are inland, in the hills behind Ronda and Jerez, around Antequera and in the dehesa towards Extremadura, where spring and autumn are the seasons and the estates are at their best with a long table under the trees.
What the Andalusian price covers
The nights. Usually two or three, for a named number of sleepers. The venue page says how many, and that number is the inner circle that stays on the estate; the rest of the guest list sleeps in the nearest town.
The food. 3 of the estates publish a per-head catering figure, from €80 at the lowest to €160 at the highest. Where the price says it includes food and drink, read how many guests and which meals; a welcome supper and a Sunday lunch for the sleepers are often inside, the wedding dinner for everyone usually priced per head on top.
The legal part. 3 state on record that it is licensed for marriage. For most foreign couples the ceremony on the estate is symbolic, with the legal marriage done at home or in Gibraltar, an hour or two down the road; the legal guide explains the routes.
Getting there
Five airports serve the region: Málaga for the coast and the hills behind Ronda, Seville for the dehesa and the estates around the city, Jerez for Vejer, Tarifa and the sherry country, and Granada and Almería for the east. The Andalusia page shows which of our venues is nearest which airport, in a straight line, and each venue page gives its own directions.
Questions couples ask us
What is the difference between a cortijo and a hacienda?
Both are Andalusian farm estates. A cortijo is the working farmhouse of the countryside, usually whitewashed, built around a courtyard, with the land it farmed around it. A hacienda is the grander estate house, often from the olive-oil or sherry trades, with a chapel, a tower and formal patios. For a wedding the difference is mostly scale and formality; both are hired whole, with the beds.
How much does a cortijo wedding in Andalusia cost?
Across the 8 Andalusian estates we list that publish a from-price, the figures run from €5,400 to €40,000. 7 of the 8 state that the price includes nights on the estate, and 3 include the food and drink too, so the high figures are closer to the whole wedding than they look. Where catering is quoted separately it runs from €80 to €160 a head.
Can guests stay at the estate?
8 of the 8 state how many it sleeps, up to 52. Minimum stays run from 1 to 3 nights. An Andalusian wedding is almost always a stay: the estates are rural, the nearest hotels can be half an hour away, and the price is built around the nights.
When is the season in Andalusia?
March to June and September to November inland, where July and August can pass 40°C. The coast around Vejer, Tarifa and Málaga works through the summer with a sea breeze and a late ceremony. The estates that host summer weddings inland hold the ceremony at dusk and the party after dark.
Is there a music curfew?
3 of the 8 state no curfew or no music curfew on record, and the rural estates are among the most generous in Spain for late parties. 3 state it is licensed for marriage. Confirm both in writing; municipal rules differ.
