How much does a wedding at La Dehesa de Don Pedro cost?

La Dehesa de Don Pedro publishes the lowest starting price of any estate in our Andalusia collection that includes the nights: €9,500 in low season, with two nights and breakfast for 37 guests in a 16-room boutique hotel on 550 hectares of holm-oak pasture an hour from Seville. Food is not in that figure. This guide explains why the number is low, what you add to it, how the hire spreads across a list of up to 300, and which other estates to read it against.

Why the number is low

La Dehesa de Don Pedro is a working dehesa, the open pasture of holm oaks that covers so much of south-west Spain, with a boutique hotel at its centre and a glass pavilion for the party. Its published from-price is €9,500, and three things explain why that is so much lower than the other Andalusian estates that put the nights in the price. The first is that it is the low-season rate; the record says so in its own words, and the figure for a peak Saturday will be higher. The second is that the price is a hire with beds and breakfast, not a package with meals: the wedding food is quoted separately. The third is scale. With a ceiling of 300 guests, the estate is set up for a large wedding, and a hire that looks modest for 300 is simply a different proposition from a 20-bed finca.

Exclusive use of 550 hectares

The record describes the hire as exclusive use of the entire estate for the wedding, with private access to all the event spaces for the ceremony, the reception and the celebration that follows. Two nights in the hotel with breakfast are inside it, for up to 37 guests. The features list adds a swimming pool, in-house catering and a list of recommended caterers, a licensed bar, a bridal changing room, parking, disabled access, and a welcome for children and pets. The two points the venue leads with are that there is no curfew of any kind, music included, and that the glass pavilion was built for late celebrations that do not have to stop. The estate is part of our sustainable collection.

What you add to the hire

Food is the big one. The record gives no per-head catering figure, so the reception meal is quoted on enquiry, either from the estate's own kitchen or from one of its recommended caterers, and the choice between the two is yours. Drinks are not stated either, and the licensed bar is a separate line. Beyond those, the obvious extras are the high-season uplift on the hire if your date falls outside low season, the extra beds that take the hotel from 37 to 48 sleeping, further nights beyond the two in the price, and the usual suppliers. Because none of those figures is published, this page does not add a catering total to the hire; the budget calculator will do that once you have the venue's quote.

The hire spread across the list

What the record does support is a view of how far the published hire stretches. Divided across the guest list, the venue element of the budget per head looks like this at three sizes of wedding, before any food, drink or suppliers:

100 guests · hire €9,500 shared across the list €95 per guest
200 guests · hire €9,500 shared across the list €48 per guest
300 guests · hire €9,500 shared across the list €32 per guest

Read the other way, as a hotel stay, the hire divided by the beds it includes comes to €257 per staying guest for two nights with breakfast and the run of the estate. Few Andalusian venues with accommodation in the price get near that, which is why this estate appears so often on shortlists for a big list on a controlled budget. For the venues that take a wedding of this size, see our guide to venues for 100 guests and more.

Beds for 37, and up to 48 with extra beds

The boutique hotel has 16 rooms. The package sleeps 37, and the record says the hotel can take up to 48 with extra beds, so a house party of that size is possible without anyone leaving the estate. The minimum stay is two nights, which is the length of the stay in the price. For a 300-guest wedding most of the list sleeps off the estate; the venue keeps a hotel recommendation list and confirms local accommodation nearby, with Monesterio the closest town. The accommodation guide is the place to compare how many of a list each Spanish venue can house.

The two nights are not idle. The record lists horse riding, bikes and quad bikes on the estate's tracks, trekking, star gazing under a sky with no town near it, and olive oil tasting, wine tasting, cocktail making and yoga. For a couple who want the wedding to be a long weekend, the three-day weekend guide compares the estates with enough to fill the days.

Under the oaks or in the gardens

Two ceremony settings are named. One is the formal, manicured gardens by the hotel. The other is out in the open dehesa, with the vows taken beneath the ancient holm oaks. Ceremony and reception each take from 40 to 300, indoors and out, so the same list fits whichever setting you choose, and the pavilion covers the evening whatever the weather does.

The estate is not listed as licensed for marriage, so a ceremony under the oaks is a symbolic one, led by a celebrant. That is also the route most foreign couples take regardless, because a non-resident couple can rarely complete the binding civil ceremony in Spain. Our guide on getting married in Spain covers the legal step at home and the ceremony here.

An hour from Seville

The estate is at Monesterio, over the regional border in Extremadura, and the venue puts Seville at an hour by road with Seville Airport 99 km away. By straight line the nearest airport we map is Seville (SVQ), about 82 km from the estate. We list it with our Andalusian venues because Seville is the gateway for every guest flying in. There is car parking on the estate, and for a list of this size a coach from Seville is the usual answer for the guests not staying in the hotel.

Read against the other Andalusian estates

Three venues give the frame for the price: one that includes the nights at a far higher figure, one priced the same way for a smaller list, and one bare hire for an even bigger one.

  • Bolonia · Andalusia

Love Garden – Finca El Cañuelo

    up to 350 guests · sleeps 11 · 2-night minimum · from €40,000

  • Vejer de la Frontera · Andalusia

    Casa La Siesta

    up to 120 guests · sleeps 25 · 3-night minimum · from €19,000 · catering €125 a head

  • Arcos de la Frontera · Andalusia

    Cortijo Los Agustinos

    up to 500 guests · sleeps 52 · 1-night minimum · from €5,400 · catering €80 a head

Love Garden at Finca El Cañuelo on the coast at Bolonia is the only other estate in the region that takes a list over 300, and it publishes €40,000 with a two-night stay for a house that sleeps 11. Casa La Siesta at Vejer de la Frontera is €19,000 with three nights for 22, catering at €125 a head, and up to 120 guests. Cortijo Los Agustinos at Arcos de la Frontera is a bare hire from €5,400 with catering at €80 a head, takes 500 and sleeps 52, but the nights are not in its figure. Against all three, La Dehesa gives the most beds for the least money with the nights in, at the cost of being an hour further from the coast. The Andalusia wedding cost guide reads every priced venue in the region the same way, and venues by budget sorts the collection into bands.

Right for you if

Choose La Dehesa de Don Pedro if your list is large, you want the party to run as late as it likes, and a landscape of oaks and open sky matters more than a sea view. The hire is a floor rather than a budget, and the real total depends on the catering quote and the season, so get both before you compare it with a package venue. If you need a wedding under 40 guests, the estate does not take one. If the coast is a must, Finca El Cañuelo and Casa La Siesta are the nearest comparisons. The full collection sets every venue's figures side by side, and an enquiry through us costs nothing.
