How much does a wedding at Mas Terrats cost?

Mas Terrats is a family home in the Empordà village of Pontós with more than 250 acres around it, and its published starting price is €5,200. That is a low-season figure, so the first job of this guide is to explain which months it belongs to and what the house, the beds and the two-night minimum give you for it. The second is to be honest about what the record leaves unpriced, and to put the estate beside four other Catalan houses that are hired for a weekend with the beds on site.

A low-season number, and what that means

Mas Terrats publishes a starting price of €5,200 for its 2027 to 2028 packages, and the venue's own note on that figure is unusually precise: it is the low-season rate, and the low season is January, February, March, November and December. Those are the months that give you the number as printed. A May or September date is priced above it, and because the record gives no high-season figure, that price comes from the venue when you enquire with a date.

It is still worth taking the winter rate seriously rather than treating it as a headline. The Empordà is mild in November and March, the house has a fireplace season of its own, and a couple whose guest list is mostly flying in from northern Europe may find a cold-month weekend cheaper on flights as well as on the hire. The venue's glass-walled events room is the reason a winter wedding works here at all: it looks out over the countryside without asking anyone to stand in it.

What the hire buys

The estate is yours exclusively for the stay, which the record sets at a minimum of two nights, with the house sleeping up to 21. That is the shape of the booking: a weekend in a family home, not a day hire of a function room. The grounds run to more than 250 acres, with lavender, sunflower fields and olive trees around an outdoor pool, and the gardens are offered for the ceremony as well as the celebration. The modern events room is described as a blank canvas, so the styling is yours to decide and to pay for.

The venue lists an on-site planner, in-house catering, recommended caterers and a licensed bar among its features, along with a bridal changing room, a sound system, car parking and permission for fireworks. It also allows glamping, which is a quiet but useful detail for a 100-guest wedding at a house with 21 beds. None of those features carries a separate published price, so read them as what is on offer rather than what is bundled in.

What the record does not price

The gap in the published figures is the food. Mas Terrats gives no per-head catering rate and no per-head drinks rate, which is why this page has no table adding food to the hire. The estate caters in-house and also names recommended outside caterers, so the menu is quoted against your numbers and your choices. When you compare it with a venue that prints a per-head figure, remember that the printed figure is usually a floor too, and that the real comparison is the quote in your inbox.

Everything else is outside the hire as well: photography, flowers, music, transport from the airport, and any beds beyond the 21 in the house. The sentence to hold on to is that €5,200 buys the place and the stay in the quiet months, and that the rest of the budget is built on top of it line by line. The budget calculator is built for exactly that job.

The hire spread across the guest list

With no food figure to add, the most useful arithmetic is the simplest: the published hire divided by the number of guests. Mas Terrats takes up to 100 for both the ceremony and the reception, from a minimum of two, so the three counts below cover a close family weekend, a mid-sized wedding and a full house.

40 guests · hire €5,200 shared between them €130 each
60 guests · hire €5,200 shared between them €87 each
100 guests · hire €5,200 shared between them €52 each

The point of the table is that the venue cost is modest at any size once it is shared, and that the food, which scales with the list, will be the larger line at 100 guests. That is the opposite of the big three-night houses near Sitges, where the hire dominates and a small list is punished. Here a wedding of 40 is not an extravagance, which is why the estate appears in our guide to intimate venues in Spain as well as in this one.

Beds, nights and the glamping field

Twenty-one guests sleep in the house, and the minimum stay is two nights, so the natural plan is a Friday arrival, a Saturday wedding and a slow Sunday around the pool. For a list of 100, the house takes the couple, parents, siblings and the wedding party, and the remaining guests stay in the villages and towns of the Empordà or, if they are the camping sort, in tents on the estate. The venue describes itself as child friendly, which for a two-night family weekend is the difference between a wedding and a logistics exercise.

If you want the whole list under one roof, Mas Terrats is not that house; the Barcelona-region estates that sleep 40 or 52 are listed in our guide to venues with accommodation. If you want a house that feels like somebody's home, with the freedom to set the day as you like, it is closer to the mark.

The ceremony in the gardens

The record lists one ceremony setting, the gardens, and notes that the estate is licensed for marriage. The licence attaches to the place rather than to the couple: a non-resident foreign couple will in most cases be unable to hold the binding civil ceremony in Spain, and will instead hold a symbolic one here after completing the legal formalities at home. Our guide to getting married in Spain sets out who qualifies for which route. For the many couples who go symbolic, the licence makes no difference to the day and the lavender does.

Reaching Pontós

The nearest airport by straight line is Girona (GRO), about 33 km from the estate. The venue's own record gives no road distances, so plan the transfer with the venue once you have a date, and expect Barcelona's airport to be the longer drive but the one with the wider choice of flights. Car parking is on site, and for a village estate with 100 guests that is not a small thing.

Four other Catalan houses hired by the weekend

The fairest comparisons for Mas Terrats are the other Barcelona-region houses let for two or more nights with the beds inside the deal, rather than the day-hire masías or the all-in estates. These four span the price bracket either side of it.

  • Castellnou de Bages · Barcelona

    Mas Bosc

    up to 180 guests · sleeps 20 · 2-night minimum · from €6,500

  • Santa Coloma de Farners · Barcelona

    Mas Huix

Finca La Batllia in the Garrotxa hires for the weekend from €4,700, sleeps 32 and takes 130 guests, and unlike Mas Terrats it publishes food and drink figures, at €90 and €50 a head, with suppliers left to your choice. Mas Bosc is €6,500 with two nights for 20 and takes up to 180. Mas del Sord, near Tarragona, is €8,000 with two nights for 30 and the same 100-guest ceiling as Mas Terrats. Mas Huix is €8,000 with three nights for 28 but takes only 40, which makes it the choice for a house party rather than a wedding of 100. What Mas Terrats has that none of these do is a licence, a glass events room and a published low-season price of €5,200.

The Barcelona wedding cost guide reads all of the region's priced venues together, and venues by budget sorts the whole Spanish collection into bands so you can see where a €5,200 hire sits nationally.

Who Mas Terrats suits

This is a venue for a couple who want to run their own weekend: a home rather than a hotel, a blank room rather than a decorated one, and a bill that starts low and grows only with the choices they make. It suits a list of between 40 and 100, a wedding in the shoulder or winter months, and families with children in tow. It suits less well anyone who wants the food priced on the website, the whole list sleeping on site, or a summer Saturday at the printed rate. The full collection lays each venue's figures side by side, and an enquiry through us costs nothing.

Questions couples ask us

What is the starting price for a wedding at Mas Terrats?

The venue publishes €5,200 as its low-season starting price for 2027 to 2028, and names the months that rate applies to: January, February, March, November and December. A date in the warmer months is priced higher, and the venue quotes it on enquiry.

Does the price include food and drink?

No per-head catering or drinks figure is published. The estate has in-house catering, a licensed bar and a list of recommended caterers, so the food is quoted against your menu and guest count rather than read off a rate card.

How many people can stay at Mas Terrats?

The house sleeps up to 21, on a minimum stay of two nights, and the estate also allows glamping in the grounds for anyone who would rather sleep under canvas than drive back to a hotel.

Can we hold a legal ceremony there?

The venue is licensed for marriage, so the setting qualifies. Whether the ceremony can be legally binding depends on the couple: most non-resident foreign couples cannot complete the civil formalities in Spain and hold a symbolic ceremony in the gardens instead.
