How much does a wedding at Cigarral de las Mercedes cost?

Cigarral de las Mercedes publishes a from-price of €22,000 for a wedding on its estate above Toledo, and the record attaches no package to that figure: it is the hire of a private cigarral with a five-star hotel sleeping 100, and the food and the bar are quoted on top. This guide reads the record line by line, shows how a fixed hire behaves across a guest list that can run to 450, and sets the estate beside the other large hire-only properties in the collection.

What the €22,000 is for

Cigarral de las Mercedes is a private estate of five hectares on the slope facing Toledo, with historic gardens, olive trees, a lake and a five-star hotel inside the grounds. The venue's published starting price for a wedding is €22,000. Unlike many of the houses in our collection, there is no note attached to that figure saying it carries nights or a meal. Read it as the hire of the estate for the wedding itself: the gardens for the ceremony, the reception spaces, the pool among the olive trees, the house sound system and the licensed bar, with an on-site planner to run the day and a bridal changing room to get ready in.

The record lists a minimum stay of one night, so the hotel's rooms are part of the conversation from the first enquiry, but the published price is not described as including them. Ask how the hire and the rooms are quoted together before you fix a budget. The season the venue publishes against is 2027 to 2028.

What sits outside the hire

Catering is in-house, and the venue has not published a per-head figure, so there is no number here to multiply by your guest list. That is the largest open line in the budget and the first thing to ask for. The same applies to drinks: the bar is licensed and on site, but the record gives no per-person rate. Suppliers, from the band to the florist, are separate as they are everywhere, and so is transport for guests who are not sleeping at the hotel.

Two things that often cost extra elsewhere are already in the record at no charge. There is no curfew and no music curfew, so the evening does not end at a set hour and there is no late-finish surcharge to negotiate. And the sound system belongs to the house, so a DJ does not have to bring one. A poolside menu of Iberian ham, cheeses, hummus and salmorejo is also listed, which hints at how the day after might be fed.

A fixed hire across a long guest list

With no published catering rate, the honest worked example is the hire alone. The plate below divides the €22,000 by three guest counts the estate can take, to show how the fixed cost thins out as the list grows. It is not a wedding budget: food, drinks and the rooms all come on top.

100 guests · hire €22,000 shared between them €220 per guest
200 guests · hire €22,000 shared between them €110 per guest
450 guests · hire €22,000 shared between them €49 per guest

The estate's floor is 10 guests and its ceiling is 450, for both the ceremony and the reception, which is one of the widest ranges in the collection. The arithmetic says what the venue's own best-for line says: this is a property for a large celebration. At 450 the hire is a modest line per head; at 50 it is most of the budget. Couples with a short list and a liking for the view should still enquire, but should expect the per-head cost to be high. Our intimate venues guide lists houses whose pricing starts lower for a smaller party, and for lists around the hundred mark the 100-guest venues guide is the better comparison set.

Who stays on the estate

This is where Cigarral de las Mercedes stands apart from most Spanish estates: the accommodation is a hotel, not a house. The record lists 31 double rooms, two deluxe rooms with private jacuzzis and four villas, sleeping up to 100 between them. For a wedding of 100 or fewer, the whole list can stay within the gates. For the larger celebrations the estate is built for, the rooms go to the couple, both families and the closest friends, and the remainder stay in Toledo, whose centre is under 3km away.

The minimum stay is a single night, so a wedding here does not have to be a three-day weekend, though the pool, the gardens, the yoga the venue offers and a golf course within 10km give guests reasons to stay a second night. The venue describes itself as child friendly and lists disabled access and car parking, both of which matter when a hundred people are arriving by road from Madrid. The accommodation guide compares the other properties that sleep a large party.

The ceremony in the gardens

One ceremony setting is published: an outdoor garden ceremony with the city of Toledo across the valley behind the couple. The record does not list the estate as licensed for marriage, so plan on a symbolic ceremony here, which is in any case what most non-resident foreign couples do in Spain, with the legal paperwork completed at home before or after the trip. Our guide to how to get married in Spain sets out the routes and the documents involved. A symbolic ceremony has one practical advantage on this site: it can be held at whatever hour gives the best light on the skyline.

Reaching Toledo

The nearest airport by straight line is Madrid (MAD), about 81 km away. The venue puts Madrid at less than an hour by road, and the city of Toledo, with its hotels, restaurants and railway station, under 3km away. For an international guest list that is a single-airport plan: everyone flies into Madrid, and the estate is a straightforward drive south. Parking on site is listed, and the estate's own hotel removes the late-night taxi question for a hundred of your guests.

Other large hire-only estates in Spain

No other venue in our collection sits in Castilla-La Mancha, so the fair comparisons are the big estates elsewhere in Spain whose published price is likewise a hire, with the food priced separately. The four below are in Andalusia, Barcelona, Mallorca and Ibiza.

  • Mallorca

    Son Doblons

    up to 220 guests · sleeps 18 · 5-night minimum · from €15,000

    Casa Nova Estate

  • Arcos de la Frontera · Andalusia

    Cortijo Los Agustinos

    up to 500 guests · sleeps 52 · 1-night minimum · from €5,400 · catering €80 a head

Cortijo los Agustinos, near Arcos de la Frontera in Andalusia, publishes €5,400 for an estate that holds 500 and sleeps 52, and it does state a catering rate, €80 a head, with a one-night minimum. Masia Casa Nova near Sitges is €12,750, a figure its record says covers three nights of hire and accommodation for 21, with catering from €110 and drinks from €75 a head and room for 250. Son Doblons in Mallorca is €15,000 for up to 220 guests, sleeps 18 and asks for a five-night minimum. Can Gall in Ibiza is €8,949 for up to 250, sleeps 32 over a three-night minimum, and caters in-house without a published rate. What none of them has is a hundred hotel beds inside the walls and a 450-guest ceiling; the Toledo estate's higher hire is largely paying for scale.

The Spain wedding cost guide for 2027 reads the whole collection the same way, region by region, and venues by budget sorts every property into price bands. The budget calculator adds catering, drinks and suppliers to a hire figure at your own guest count.

Who it suits

Cigarral de las Mercedes is for couples with a long guest list, a wish to keep most of it sleeping in one place, and a preference for a skyline over a coastline. The hire is fixed and generous in what it covers, the beds are a hotel's rather than a villa's, and nothing in the record closes the party down at a set hour. It is a weaker fit for a wedding of thirty, where the same hire buys far less per head, and for couples who want a published all-in package rather than a quote. The full collection shows every venue's figures together, and an enquiry through us is free and asks nothing of you.
