Finca wedding venues in Mallorca and Ibiza

The finca is the island wedding venue: a farm estate with its groves and its pool, hired whole for a day or a weekend. 5 of the 7 venues we list in Mallorca and 5 of the 13 in Ibiza are fincas and country houses. This guide lists them with their prices and beds, and explains the one difference between the two islands that decides the budget.

Day or stay: the island difference

Mallorca's fincas mostly sell the day. The estate is yours for the wedding, the catering is quoted per head on top, the couple sleeps in the house and the guest list sleeps in the island's deep hotel stock. Ibiza's fincas more often sell the stay: three or four nights, the beds for the inner circle, and sometimes the food and drink inside the price. The same word, two purchases. Of the 10 fincas here, 5 have no minimum stay beyond a night and 5 ask for two or more; 8 state how many they sleep.

Mallorca

Inland, stone, old. The Mallorcan finca sits in the Pla or on the lower slopes of the Tramuntana, with Palma airport under an hour from almost all of them. Ceremonies are in the orange patio or the olive terrace, dinner in the clastra, the stone courtyard every old finca has.

Ibiza

Whitewashed, low, with the sea somewhere in view. The Ibiza finca is a house for a week: the wedding in the middle, the pool the rest of the time. Several here price the whole stay with the food in, which is the honest way to read a figure that looks high beside Mallorca's.

Season and sound

May, June and September are the months the islands are made for; July and August are hot, busy and dear for flights, and a finca ceremony moves to 7pm. The islands license sound strictly, and the rural fincas with no neighbours are the ones that can play late; 4 here state no curfew. The Mallorca and Ibiza pages carry each island's season, costs and airports; the two cost guides, Mallorca and Ibiza, read the figures venue by venue.

Questions couples ask us

What is a finca?

On the Balearics a finca is a country estate: the old farmhouse of a landholding, with its orange groves, almond trees or olives, restored as a house to hire. Mallorca's are stone, inland and often centuries old; Ibiza's are whitewashed, cubic and closer to the sea. Both are the islands' answer to the Catalan masía and the Andalusian cortijo.

How much does a finca wedding in Mallorca cost?

The 5 Mallorcan fincas we list that publish a from-price run from €3,500 to €15,000. Mallorca's fincas tend to sell the day: a hire for the estate with the catering on top, and a night or two for the couple, with the island's hotels sleeping the guests.

How much does a finca wedding in Ibiza cost?

The 5 Ibiza fincas we list that publish a from-price run from €8,949 to €35,000. Ibiza's fincas more often sell a stay of three or four nights, sometimes with the food and drink inside the price, which is why the island's figures run higher.

Can a finca play music late?

4 of the 10 fincas here state no curfew or no music curfew on record. The islands license sound strictly, Ibiza in particular, and a rural finca with no neighbours is the usual way round it. Ask for the licence hours in writing, and ask whether the party moves indoors after midnight.
