How much does a wedding at Hotel Castell d’Emporda cost?

Hotel Castell d’Emporda publishes a wedding package from €25,000, and unlike most estates near Barcelona the figure already carries the food: two nights in 25 double rooms with breakfast, welcome cava, canapés, a three-course dinner with drinks and the coordination on the day. This guide reads the package line by line from the venue's record, explains what still sits outside it, and sets the castle beside the other Catalan venues that price their weddings with the catering inside.

A package price, not a hire fee

Most venues in Catalonia publish a hire figure and leave the food to a separate menu. Hotel Castell d’Emporda does it the other way round. Its published starting price is €25,000 for the 2027 to 2028 season, and the venue's own description of that figure is a wedding package: the rooms, the breakfasts, the welcome drink, the canapés, the dinner and the coordination are all inside it. That changes how you should read the number. It is high for a venue hire near Barcelona, and close to the floor for a castle wedding where the dinner and two nights of beds are already paid for.

The castle itself is a 14th-century fortress restored as a hotel, standing on more than 12 hectares of oak and olive trees above the Empordà countryside near La Bisbal d'Empordà. Taken on full exclusivity it is yours, with nobody else checking in, which is the only way the venue offers it for weddings.

What the €25,000 covers, item by item

The venue's package text is unusually specific, so it is worth repeating in plain terms. The accommodation is 25 double rooms for two nights with breakfast, which the package text describes as 50 guests accommodated. The price note on the same record lists the stay as two nights for 40, so there is a small discrepancy between the two lines and you should ask the venue which applies to your date. Either way, the wedding party and close family sleep on the estate without paying for a hotel elsewhere.

On the day itself the package covers the ceremony set-up, welcome cava, an appetiser reception of 12 individual canapés per guest, and a three-course wedding dinner with drinks. The banquet set-up is included too: the seating plan, personalised menus, place cards and table numbers. An on-site planner handles the coordination on the day, and the venue lists in-house catering and a licensed bar among its features, so there is no outside caterer to find.

What stays outside the figure is the rest of the guest list's food if your numbers run past the package, the bar once the dinner drinks are finished, and every supplier from the photographer to the band. The record gives one further figure here: drinks at €18 per person, which is the number to use when you extend the evening past the dinner service.

Why there is no worked table on this page

Our other venue cost guides multiply a per-head catering price by three guest counts and add it to the hire. Castell d’Emporda does not publish a per-head catering rate, because the dinner is already inside the package for the stated number of guests. For a wedding of 100 or 150 the venue will quote the additional covers on enquiry, and that figure is not in the record, so we will not guess at it. The honest reading is that €25,000 is the floor for a wedding of the package size, and the total rises with each guest beyond it. The budget calculator lets you add the extra covers and the suppliers once you have the venue's quote in hand.

Who sleeps on the estate

This is where the castle separates itself from the private houses in the region. The record states that exclusive use brings all 57 suites and beds for up to 130 guests. The package pays for 25 of those rooms over two nights; the rest are available for the guest list to book, and for a wedding of 130 or fewer that means nobody has to travel after the party. The published minimum stay is a single night, which is unusual among Catalan estates and gives you more freedom over the shape of the weekend than the two- and three-night minimums elsewhere.

Between the events, guests have two outdoor swimming pools, a spa with massages, and yoga on the grounds. The venue also lists wine tasting among its experiences, and it describes itself as child friendly with disabled access, which matters when a guest list of this size spans three generations. For a wedding above 130, the hotel recommendation list in the record points to rooms in La Bisbal and the surrounding Empordà villages. Our guide to venues with accommodation compares bed counts across the country if that is the deciding factor.

The ceremony, the dinner and the dancing

Two ceremony settings are listed. The first is the garden in the olive grove, the outdoor option among the estate's trees. The second is the Remei Chapel, the castle's own chapel, which is the alternative when you want to be under a roof or prefer a religious setting. The record does not list the venue as licensed for civil marriage, so for most foreign couples the ceremony here is symbolic and the legal paperwork is done at home. Our guide to getting married in Spain sets out the routes.

Dinner is served on the La Pergola terrace, and the dancing moves to La Cova del Drac, a cave lounge-bar on the property. That sequence, from olive grove to terrace to cave, is the shape of the day the castle is built around, and it is the reason the guest range is stated as 50 to 200 for both the ceremony and the reception rather than starting lower.

Getting there

The venue puts Girona Airport 45 km away, and by straight line the nearest airport is Girona (GRO) at about 25 km. Girona takes direct flights from across Europe and the drive to La Bisbal d'Empordà is short and simple. Barcelona's airport is the fallback for guests on routes Girona does not serve. Car parking is on site, and the castle's position on its own hill above the Empordà means that once guests arrive, they do not need to go anywhere else for two days.

Other Catalan venues that price the food in

Packages that bundle the dinner are rarer near Barcelona than hire-only pricing, which makes the comparison below more useful than a list of similar castles. Each of these venues publishes a figure that already includes catering, though they draw the line around the beds differently.

  • Llorenç del Penedès · Barcelona

    Finca La Concertista

    up to 250 guests · sleeps 20 · 3-night minimum · from €25,300

  • Sitges · Barcelona

    Villa Almanita

    up to 150 guests · sleeps 52 · 3-night minimum · from €18,000 · catering €160 a head

  • Caldes de Montbui · Barcelona

    Torre Sever

    up to 185 guests · from €11,600

  • Vilanova del Vallès · Barcelona

    Mas de Sant Lleí

    up to 700 guests · from €10,500

Finca La Concertista is the closest match: €25,300 for a three-night stay for 20 with food and drink included, up to 250 guests, licensed for marriage, and 56 km from Barcelona Airport. It gives you a third night but far fewer beds. Mas de Sant Lleí publishes €10,500 for 70 guests with catering, a two-hour open bar and a mojito buffet inside, but no accommodation at all and a minimum of 70 guests. Torre Sever is €11,600 as an all-inclusive day package based on €145 a head for 80 guests, again with no beds. Villa Almanita near Sitges goes the other way: €18,000 buys three nights for 52 guests with the catering priced separately at €160 a head. Against that field, Castell d’Emporda is the one venue that puts a hotel's worth of rooms and the dinner inside a single figure.

The Barcelona wedding cost guide covers every priced venue in the region, including the day-hire masías that start far lower, and venues by budget sorts the whole collection into price bands.

Who the castle suits

Book Castell d’Emporda if you want the hotel-takeover model: a guest list between 50 and 200, most of them sleeping on the estate, with the dinner and the coordination handled by one team rather than assembled from suppliers. The package is well suited to couples who would rather have one number than six, and to families with older guests who value a bed a short walk from the dance floor. Our guide to hotel takeover venues lists the other properties that work this way.

It suits a small wedding less well. The stated minimum of 50 guests rules out an intimate dinner, and a couple with 30 guests would be paying for rooms and covers they cannot fill. For a list of that size the intimate venues guide starts from much lower figures. The full collection shows every venue's capacity, beds and price side by side, and an enquiry about dates at the castle costs nothing.

Questions couples ask us

What does the €25,000 package at Hotel Castell d’Emporda include?

The venue states that the package covers two nights in 25 double rooms with breakfast, the ceremony set-up, welcome cava, a canapé reception, a three-course wedding dinner with drinks, the full banquet set-up with seating plan, menus, place cards and table numbers, and on-the-day coordination. The price note lists the stay as two nights for 40 guests.

How many guests can stay at the castle?

The hotel sleeps up to 130 across 57 suites when taken on full exclusivity, so a wedding of up to 130 can have every guest on the estate. The published minimum stay is one night.

What is the guest range for a wedding at Castell d’Emporda?

Both the ceremony and the reception are stated as 50 to 200 guests. The castle is a hotel rather than a private house, so it is built for a full list rather than a dinner for twenty.

Is there a figure for drinks beyond the dinner?

The record lists drinks at €18 per person. The three-course dinner in the package already comes with drinks, so that figure is the one to use for extending the bar after dinner or adding a drinks reception elsewhere in the day.
