How much does a wedding at Mas Huix cost?

Mas Huix is an 11th-century Catalan farmhouse with a chapel more than two centuries old, set among forested hills half an hour from Girona airport, and it takes weddings of up to 40 guests as a four-night takeover with everyone sleeping on site. The record carries two starting figures, €8,000 with three nights and €8,800 with four, and no catering at all. This guide reads both from the venue's own record, explains the longer summer minimum, and compares the estate with four Catalan venues for a small list.

Two starting figures, and why

The record for Mas Huix is unusual in carrying two starting prices. The headline from-price is €8,000, with a note that it includes a three-night stay for 28 guests. The venue's own package text, in the same record, says the wedding starting price is €8,800 and includes exclusive use of the property with a four-night stay for up to 28. The features list states a minimum stay of four nights. The most likely reading is that €8,000 is a low-season or shorter booking and €8,800 is the four-night package the venue normally sells, but the record does not say so, and the right move is to ask the venue which figure applies to your dates before building a budget on either.

What both figures have in common is more important than the gap between them. Each is a multi-night exclusive hire of the whole estate with the beds inside, for a celebration of up to 40 guests, and neither includes any food. The venue publishes no in-house catering, no per-head rate and no drinks figure, so the dinner is a quote from a caterer you choose. That is why this page has no worked table: there is nothing in the record to multiply.

What the hire buys for four nights

The estate is described as a main house, a hayloft, a chapel and expansive outdoor areas, designed so that a wedding weekend flows between them. The renovated hayloft holds a dining space, an open-plan room and a covered porch with a barbecue beside the pool. A large terrace faces the main house, and a lawn framed by a pergola and a stone dome is the outdoor ceremony setting. The venue lists trekking, yoga, a sports court and mini-golf among its experiences, which is the right list for four days with the same 28 people.

The record also states two things that save money rather than cost it. There is no supplier exclusivity, so you are not tied to a list of caterers or florists. And there is no kitchen fee, so your caterer uses the estate's kitchen without a surcharge to the venue. At many Spanish estates both of those are separate lines, and at a wedding of 40 they can be a noticeable share of the total.

Who the 28 beds are for

Mas Huix sleeps 28 across ten en-suite guest rooms plus a bridal suite. Set against a ceiling of 40 guests, that means most or all of the list sleeps on the estate, and for a wedding of 28 or fewer it means everyone does. This is the model the venue's own summary describes: a small wedding run as a four-night takeover with everyone staying. The remaining dozen at a full 40 book in Santa Coloma de Farners or Girona, and the venue lists a supplier list and describes itself as child friendly, though it does not publish a hotel recommendation list, so that part of the search is yours.

The four-night minimum is the thing to plan around. A Thursday-to-Monday booking is the natural shape, and the venue states that in summer the minimum rises to as many as six nights, so a July wedding becomes most of a week. For guests that is a holiday with a wedding in the middle of it, and the per-night cost of the hire falls as the stay lengthens. Our guide to three-day wedding weekends explains how to fill the days either side, and the venues with accommodation guide ranks the Spanish collection by beds.

The chapel and the lawn

Two ceremony settings are listed. The first is the estate's own chapel, more than two centuries old and no longer consecrated, which seats up to 25. The second is the large lawn framed by the pergola and the stone dome, for an outdoor ceremony at the full 40. A deconsecrated chapel is the detail to understand: it gives a wedding the architecture of a church ceremony without the religious requirements, and for a guest list of 25 or fewer it is the setting the estate is known for.

Mas Huix is not listed as licensed for marriage, so the ceremony in the chapel or on the lawn is symbolic for foreign couples, with the legal formalities done at home. Most non-resident couples take that route in Spain regardless of the venue's licence, and our guide to getting married in Spain explains why and how.

Half an hour from Girona

The venue's own description puts the estate half an hour from Girona airport, among the forested hills around Santa Coloma de Farners. By straight line the nearest airport in our list is Girona (GRO), about 15 km away. For a guest list of 40 that is simple: Girona takes direct flights from across Europe, and for anyone on a route it does not serve, Barcelona's airport is the fallback. Car parking is on the estate, and with everyone staying for four nights there is no transport to organise on the wedding night itself.

Other Catalan estates for a small list

The venues below also sleep most of a small guest list on a multi-night hire. Only one, Masia Victoria, publishes catering per head; the rest are quoted on enquiry, as at Mas Huix.

Mas del Sord near La Selva del Camp is €8,000 for a Friday to Sunday hire with two nights for 30, taking up to 100. Mas Terrats in the Empordà publishes a low-season figure of €5,200, sleeps 21 on a two-night minimum, takes up to 100 and is licensed for marriage. Finca La Batllia hires for the weekend from €4,700 with beds for 32, for 40 to 130 guests, with catering from €90 and drinks from €50. Mas Huix has the smallest guest ceiling of the five by some way, and the longest minimum stay, which is the trade it asks you to make for a chapel and a house that are entirely yours for four nights.

The Barcelona wedding cost guide reads every priced venue in the region, venues by budget bands the collection by hire, and the budget calculator adds the caterer's quote and the suppliers to a hire like €8,000.

Who Mas Huix suits

Choose Mas Huix if your guest list is 40 or fewer and you want them all under one roof for most of a week, with a chapel for the vows and no venue-imposed caterer. It suits couples who treat the wedding as a house party first, who are happy to source their own food and drink, and who would rather spend on four nights than on a larger list. Our guide to small and intimate venues sets it against the rest of the country at that size.

It does not suit a wedding over 40, a one-night booking, or a couple who want the dinner inside the price. The full collection shows every venue's capacity, beds and hire side by side, and asking about dates at Mas Huix through us costs nothing.

Questions couples ask us

How much does a wedding at Mas Huix cost?

The venue's record carries a from-price of €8,000 with a note that it includes a three-night stay for 28, while the venue's own package text gives a starting price of €8,800 for exclusive use with a four-night stay for up to 28 guests. The stated minimum stay is four nights. Ask the venue which figure applies to your dates and season.

How many guests can Mas Huix take?

The celebration is stated at up to 40 guests, from a minimum of two. The chapel seats up to 25 for the ceremony, and the estate sleeps 28 across ten en-suite guest rooms and a bridal suite.

Is catering included or available in-house?

No. Mas Huix lists no in-house catering and no per-head rate. The venue states there is no supplier exclusivity and no kitchen fee, so you bring whichever caterer you choose and pay nothing to the venue for using the kitchen.

Does the minimum stay change in summer?

Yes. The venue states that rates vary with guest numbers, dates and season, and that summer stays require a minimum of up to six nights. A July or August wedding is therefore a longer booking than the four-night minimum.
