Masía wedding venues near Barcelona
The masía is why Catalonia has more wedding estates than anywhere else in Spain: stone farmhouses with bedrooms, courtyards and land, restored to be hired whole. 14 of the 24 venues we list near Barcelona are masías and farmhouse estates. Here they are, with how many each sleeps, what the stay includes and what it costs.

How a masía wedding works
A masía is a house before it is a venue. The family that restored it usually lives nearby, the bedrooms are in the old house and its outbuildings, and the wedding happens in the courtyard, the garden or a barn opened up for dinner. That is why the records read the way they do: sleeps 28, two-night minimum, from €7,000 including two nights for 14. You are hiring the house for the weekend, the beds for the people closest to you, and the party comes with it.
Of the 14 masías and farmhouse estates near Barcelona, 13 state how many they sleep and 12 ask for two nights or more. Capacities run from 40 to 700 guests. 10 build the nights into the published price; the rest price the stay separately or on request, which the venue page explains.
The big houses: 25 beds or more
These sleep the whole inner circle and most of the extended family. They are the venues for a three-day Catalan wedding, and several include the food and drink inside the stay, so the headline figure is closer to the whole wedding than it looks.

The family houses: under 25 beds
The couple, parents and the wedding party sleep in; everyone else stays in the nearest town. These are often the best value on the list, because a smaller house asks less for the weekend and the guest list sleeps where it likes.
Masías for the day
One states no beds on site: the estate and its spaces for the wedding, with everyone staying nearby.
Where they are
Three countrysides within an hour of Barcelona hold most of them. The Penedès, south-west of the city, is wine country: vineyards, dry-stone walls and masías that were wineries first. The Vallès and the hills towards the Montseny, to the north, are wooded and cooler in August. The Empordà, inland from the Costa Brava, is the furthest and the most rural, with Girona airport closer than Barcelona for many of its estates. The Barcelona page gives every venue's nearest airport and the season.
What to ask a masía
Which beds are in the price? "Includes two nights for 20" means twenty sleepers. More beds, where the house has them, are a line on the quote; fewer does not reduce it.
Where does dinner go if it rains? Most masías have a barn or a sala for exactly this. Ask to see it, and ask how many it seats at tables, which is usually fewer than the courtyard.
Is the catering yours or theirs? Some estates have a kitchen and a caterer they work with; others are dry hire. The venue page's "what's included" says which, and the Barcelona cost guide reads the per-head figures venue by venue.
Questions couples ask us
What is a masía?
A masía (mas in Catalan) is the traditional Catalan farmhouse: a stone house, often medieval in origin, built around a courtyard with its barns, chapel and land. Most of the ones that host weddings have been restored as exclusive-use estates with bedrooms in the old house and the party in the courtyard or the garden. They are the deepest pool of wedding venues in Catalonia.
How much does a masía wedding near Barcelona cost?
Across the 14 masías and farmhouse estates near Barcelona that publish a from-price, the figures run from €3,000 to €14,550, with a median of €7,000. 10 of them state that the price includes a stay of two or three nights for a named number of guests, so a masía figure is usually the house for the weekend rather than a hire for the day.
How many guests can a masía sleep?
13 of the 14 masías here state how many it sleeps, from a handful of rooms to 40 guests at the largest. 12 ask for two nights or more, which is the shape of a Catalan wedding: the family in the house from Friday, the party on Saturday, lunch on Sunday.
Is there a music curfew at masías?
7 of the 14 state no curfew or no music curfew on record. Rural Catalonia is generous with late parties, but each municipality licenses its own hours, so ask the estate for its licence in writing before you book the band.
How far from Barcelona are they?
Most are within an hour of the city, across the Penedès wine country to the south-west, the Vallès and the Montseny hills to the north, and the Empordà towards the Costa Brava. Barcelona (BCN) serves the first two; Girona (GRO) is often closer for the Empordà. Each venue page gives its nearest airport by straight line.
