How many guests to bring to a wedding in Spain
The guest count is the first number and it reshapes every other one: which venues can take you, what the catering costs, whether the party sleeps on site, and how everyone gets home at two in the morning. This guide reads the Spanish collection by guest count, from the records of every venue we list.

How many venues take your number
Of the 54 venues we list with a stated capacity, here is how many take each guest count or more. The median venue takes 200.
The shape of that table is the shape of Spain: estates built for large families and harvests, so a hundred is small and two hundred is ordinary. The scarce end is the small venue, which the intimate venues guide covers, and the very large one, in the large-wedding guide.
What the number changes
The venue line does not move. A finca that takes 200 costs the same to hire for 60. That is why small weddings in Spain often end up at a better venue than planned, and why large ones are rarely venue-led in cost.
The catering line moves with every head. Where our venues publish a per-head figure the median is €120, from €80 to €163. Add drinks, the late-night food and the bar by the hour, all per person, and the difference between 80 and 120 guests is a five-figure line.
The beds decide the shape of the weekend. 31 venues sleep 20 or more; 14 sleep 40 or more. Under forty guests the whole party can live on the estate; up to about a hundred the inner circle stays and the rest come in; above that you are choosing a hotel or running shuttles.
Transport scales badly. Twenty guests fit in taxis; two hundred need a bus timetable from the nearest town and a plan for 2am. Rural estates are generous with late music precisely because nobody lives next door, which means nobody can walk home.
Choosing the number
Count the people who would travel, then decide whether the wedding is a house party, a weekend or a production. Under 60 guests, choose the house and the beds first, then the region; the venue line is the budget. 60 to 120, choose the region and the month first, then the venue that sleeps your inner circle; most of the collection is open to you. Above 150, choose the venue that genuinely takes your number and let the region follow; the catering and the beds are the budget. The budget calculator prices all three at any guest count, and the accommodation guide lists every venue by how many it sleeps.
Questions couples ask us
What is a typical guest count for a destination wedding in Spain?
Sixty to one hundred and twenty. A wedding abroad trims the list: the people who will travel, take the days and pay for the trip are the people you most want there. Below sixty the wedding becomes a house party at an estate; above one hundred and fifty it becomes a logistics project with beds and transport to solve.
How many venues in Spain take 100 guests?
48 of the 54 venues we list with a stated capacity take 100 or more; 38 take 150, 27 take 200 and 13 take 300. The median stated capacity is 200, so a hundred is a comfortable number almost anywhere in the collection.
What does each extra guest cost in Spain?
The venue hire does not change with the guest list; the catering and the bar do. Where our venues publish a per-head catering figure the median is €120, and the calculator's all-Spain band for a seated dinner is €90 to €170 a head before drinks. Twenty more guests at €120 is €2,400 on the food line alone.
How many guests can sleep at the venue?
31 of the 55 venues we list sleep 20 or more on site, 14 sleep 40 or more and 7 sleep 80 or more. Past about forty beds you are choosing a hotel; below it the estate sleeps the inner circle and the rest of the list stays nearby.
